About this volume

The combined proceedings of the 9th and 10th annual Nigerian Materials Congresses of the Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria (MSN), published by the Society in 2012 and edited by A. T. Oyelami (EMDI, Akure), B. O. Adewuyi (FUTA, Akure) and D. A. Pelemo (CERD, OAU Ile-Ife). The two volumes were combined so that the Society kept its unbroken record of producing a book of proceedings for every congress.

NIMACON 2010 was held at Universal Hotel, Independence Layout, Enugu, from 23 to 26 November 2010, co-hosted by the Projects Development Institute (PRODA) and the Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI), Enugu, on the theme "Materials in Clean Technologies Development". Its sub-themes covered clean technologies for transportation and for the oil and gas industry, advanced renewable energy materials, modelling and simulation, clean materials processing, and energy and the environment.

NIMACON 2011 was held at the Engineering Materials Development Institute (EMDI), Akure, from 21 to 24 November 2011, on the theme "Materials Processing for Sustainable Environment and National Development", together with the meeting of the Nigerian Materials Research Society (Nigerian-MRS). Its papers cover biomaterials, nanomaterials and nanotechnology, materials in construction and communications, reverse engineering and adaptive technology, electronic and polymeric materials, minerals processing, modelling and simulation, and innovation in materials research.
